COMPENSATION RANGE: GRADE 37:  $4,133.00 (STEP) - $5,841.00 (STEP 15) MONTHLY PLUS BENEFITS

WORK LOCATION: 8337 Telegraph Road, Ste. 300, Pico Rivera, CA 90660

(May need to travel to agency’s assigned areas and other organizations within the
Los Angeles County)

  1. I. PROGRAM SUMMARY

Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc. (Plaza) is a comprehensive early childhood education program that empowers families to become self-sufficient by providing educational opportunities, support services and community resources within the Los Angeles County.

 

Developmental services are provided for children zero to five years of age from low-income families and currently serves approximately 2,300 children and their families. The program provides not only educational services, but we also include health, family services, mental health, disabilities, nutrition, and parent involvement services for participants in our center and home base programs, as well as in our Early Head Start program.

 

 

  1. II. SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Education Area Manager is responsibilities include supervision of the educational

services, guides curriculum and program planning, development, and training; serves as a

resources for teachers, analyzes data and completes reports related to the provision of

educational services; many supervise other educations staff; and performs related duties

as assigned.

 

 

  1. III. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Experience

Minimum 5-7 years of progressive responsible management experience.  Must have at least 10 years experience in the Head Start program; direct experience in managing government-funded programs is highly desirable.

 

Education/Training/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Master’s Degree preferred. Major in any of the following disciplines is required:

  • Child Development
  • Education
  • Educational Administration
  • Business Administration
  • Management

If major is a non-management discipline, must also have at least twelve semester units in administration or management.

Must have a current Child Development Director Permit.

Must be reliable in Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).

Ability to deal with conceptual matters; ability to plan, allocate and control substantial resources; ability to speak and write effectively; and possession of good interpersonal skills.

 

  1. IV. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Eligibility to Work: All potential employees will be asked to present supporting documents establishing proof of identity and employment eligibility upon completing the I-9 form.

Medical Must submit a medical examination demonstrating capability to perform type of work

Examination: required; must submit a tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray. *

Fingerprint All potential employees will be subject to obtain fingerprint clearances from the

Clearances: Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Child Abuse Index prior to starting work. *

Other Special Must have the use of an automobile with adequate insurance coverage and a valid

Requirement: California driver’s license, or have available private transportation.

* Failure to meet medical standards and/or criminal record clearance may result in withdrawal of job appointment.

 

  1. V. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to site; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
